Prayers For The Ghetto will showcase at 45th Street Theatre on October 4th and 5th  at 7pm.  All the auditions, rehearsals and stage-plays are being documented by an aspiring documentarian photo-journalist Sue Heidi Acosta and the play will be video taped both nights by JETT FILMS Luis Dalmasy Jr. of www.10zero.net.  The playwright, Veronica Page, aka Pazge a native New Yorker states “… when Mr. King, who’s the author and director asked me to write the stageplay adaptation I was extremely excited.  Once I read the manuscript, I realized this play could have a lot of potential but needed a different twist.  Though the play adapation may not have the exact passage of the book, what I wanted to do was give variations steming from Prayers for the Ghetto.  This play will make you LOL, cry and realize that the ghetto didn’t only affect black life, but it affected everybody’s life and you will see it on the streets of Brooklyn and on the streets of the Holocaust in Prayers For The Ghetto.”  Clifton Elijah King of Clifton King Productions is the author, producer, director, stage manager and casting director states…”Our cast was cherry-picked from some the of best talented individuals – and I have to admit New York has the best talent.  Our cast is extremely diverse and they all share the same goal…”ACT” and you will witness their talent in Prayers For The Ghetto.”   Clifton credits include working with Martin Scorsese, Nancy Myers and Jonathan Demme, just to name a few.  “… and I was Robert DeNiro’s shadow in his Martin Scorsese directed American Express commercial and I’m still sicken my scene was cut with the acting legend” stated Mr. King.  Clifton will be appearing in the upcoming feature film, “Threading A Needle”, written and directed by Jamal Hodge.  This film will premiere at The Magic Johnson Theatre in Harlem in July 2010.

“Not of Sound Mind”
(will be casting in 2011)

This is a story about a psychotic DNA gene crossing generations, continents and racial barriers to be implanted into an innocent child who grows up to be a Hitler’s protégé.

The story begins with the cameras panning the St. Stephens Cathedral at night with a superimpose: Vienna, Austria 1912.  There’s off-screen music (Schubert’s Ave Maria) from inside the church with thunder and lightening.  The fog circles the steeple, gradually moving down, making its way to the top of the Opera House, then to the cobblestones.  You hear clicking heels off-screen.  The clicking stops, a paint brush drops and a black hand picks it up.

The fog fuses with black pump heels and African fabric raise slightly to reveal black bare ankles moving briskly.  A sizzling lightning bolt and Adolph Hitler’s face appears.  The girl breathes deeply and Hitler’s face fades into blackness.

GIRL

(In French)

Who is it?  Who goes there?

THUNDER.  Another LIGHTENING BOLT. HITLER’S face reappears.  The Girl runs, but her legs are lifted off the cobblestones; she struggles, never seeing her attacker.  Behind a black wall the pants of a military uniform is in the middle of spread black legs and African fabric.

Heavy breathing O.S.  The fog is moving up into the night as the SCREAM O.S. of the Girl’s voice echoes with the music.
